Ramu is the working as a Group CTO at TONIK (first pureplay digital bank in SEA) heading Digital Banking IT Organization (Engineering, Technology, Security & Operation). Ramu brings over 18+ years of information technology, enterprise architecture, product development, IT Operations, Innovation and IT Security experience in both digital/legacy banking and telco verticals.
He has built and launched the first neo-bank in SEA ‘Tonik Bank’ from ground-up heading Engineering, Cloud Technology, Operation, Security and Procurement Management divisions for the bank. He has setup the complete multi-cloud SaaS based banking tech running from 8+ different countries adhering to PDPA, compliance (TRM) and regulatory framework. I own the Tech vision and strategy for TONIK (Retail Neo Bank), Digital Enterprise Architecture for Zero On-prem, Cloud-Native Modern Banking with API Economy Strategy, Multi-Cloud (AWS, GCP), Data Lake & Zero Trust Cybersecurity.
Prior to joining TONIK, he was an IT Director with Capgemini Singapore managing a Large Digital Transformation programme for the Leading Telco (Celcom) in Malaysia
He also worked as a Chief Architect (Deputy Director) for Tagit Singapore where he architected and implemented over 2 dozen retail and business banking solutions for banks such as DBS (SG and HK), UOB Retail & Business Banking (SG), Maybank, OCBC (SG), BSN (MY), RHB (MY), Citi (IN) Axis Bank (IN), EON (Union Bank PH), PNB , Chinabank , RBC (CN) to name a few. He has worked with various Banking CXO’s around SEA on Digital Enterprise IT Modernization, Digital Transformation and DevSecOps implementation as part of the Next Generation Technology Roll-out.
Global citizen, having lived in 4 countries across 2 continents, and done business around SEA region, currently residing in Singapore. Married, with two sons. Lifelong hobbies include reading books, meeting people, and travelling to new places.
Fluent in English, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. He holds a Master’s in computer science from Bharathiar University (India) and currently pursuing Master of Business Administration at Murdoch University (Australia).
