Since joining the regulator in 2015 Ed has led a number of transformation initiatives. Prior to the FCA Ed worked as a consultant within Financial Services.

Howard has undertaken a diverse range of roles in the financial services sector spanning the disciplines of operational management, corporate relationship management, strategy and risk management.

Passionate about preventing Economic Crime his current role is to provide Oversight of Economic Crime risks with particular focus on screening and transaction monitoring.

He is an advisory board member for Cifas, the UKs largest cross-sector fraud data sharing organisation, as well as a member of the European Banking Federation Exco financial crime strategy group. He is also an active member of the Europol Financial Intelligence Public Private Partnership.

As an active LinkedIn member Howard regularly shares thoughts and insights into the world of Economic Crime Prevention and the latest developments around the globe.

Howard enjoys running getting in a 5km jog on most days.

My name is Nick Waren. I am married with 2 wonderful sons, Jack (8) and Leo (6). I grew up in London and studied Economics and Management at Royal Holloway, University of London. I started my career at PwC working in the Conflicts of Interest Team before moving into the Anti-Money Laundering Team 6 months later and have continued to hold Financial Crime related roles ever since.

After working at PwC for 4 years I moved to Barclays in 2011 where I spent the next 3 years in their Group AML Policy Team. I subsequently joined HSBC’s Retail AML Team in 2014 where I was responsible for development and implementation of AML Policy & Procedures. In 2017 my family and I moved to Hong Kong where I led the team responsible for coordinating the Retail business’ response to various remediation programmes and the development of reporting and analytical tools used to identify and mitigate FinCrime risk.

After spending more than 2 years in Hong Kong my family and I returned to the UK in April 2020 when I took up a role in HSBC’s Group AML Team. In July 2022 I moved to NatWest where I currently work as the Deputy MLRO’s Financial Crime Risk Lead.

Peter May is an accomplished Risk and Control professional with a wealth of experience in financial crime and fraud within the banking and markets industry. Currently serving as the Global Head of Wholesale and Markets Fraud at HSBC since April 2020, he oversees the second line of defense (2LOD) coverage for commercial and corporate banking as well as global markets.

Prior to this role, he held the position of Head of Governance and Controls at Barclays from November 2018 to April 2020, where he served as the UK Chief Controls Officer covering Cards and Payments. With a career spanning over several years at HSBC, Peter has held various significant positions, including Head of Oversight for HSBC’s International Businesses across continental Europe, South Africa, and Bermuda. He also led operational risk oversight for HSBC’s Ring-fencing Programme and the establishment of HSBC UK as Head of Risk Oversight – Structural Reform Programme.

Throughout his career, Peter has demonstrated expertise in financial crime risk transformation, operational risk oversight, and trade and receivables finance oversight. With a strong track record and a deep understanding of the industry.

Mark is president of Security for DXC Technology. He is responsible for DXC’s Security business including cyber defense, digital identity, secured infrastructure and security risk management.

Mark joined DXC from BT, a world-leading global telecommunications provider, where he most recently served as chief executive of BT Security. He joined BT in 2002 and held a variety of senior appointments, including key government customer-facing roles. In 2013 Mark led the formation of BT Security, which has become a global leader with 3,000 cyber security experts across 15 security operation centers globally and double-digit annual revenue growth.

Earlier in his career, Mark was the commercial director at MWB Business Exchange. He began his career in the British Army.

Mark has served on national boards, including the Cyber Growth Partnership for the United Kingdom, and the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Global Cybersecurity Board.

Awarded a BS with honors by the University of Leicester, Mark trained at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, and the Junior Division of Staff College. He was awarded military advanced certificates in French and German from the University of Westminster.
